Ultimate Ivy City Dining Guide

Screen Shot 2018-04-30 at 10.37.58 AM.png

Our second neighborhood dining guide puts a focus on Ivy City, a gateway to the District on the east side. A neighborhood that was formerly a jumble of warehouses and industrial buildings with a mix of residential is now resurging as a cool neighborhood known for food and craft distilling.

In partnership with Lyft, Edible DC has created a series of dining guides. Be sure to use the code “EDIBLEDCIVY” for 20% of your next Lyft ride to or from Ivy City area! (Good while supplies last.)

Edible DC's Ivy City Picks

Republic Restoratives Distillery

A women-owned distillery with tasting, tours and bar service. Here's a recipe for "The Chin Chin" using their Borough Bourbon, featured in our 2017 Holiday issue.

Ari's Diner

Billed as a traditional American Diner - this is a sister restaurant to Dock FC and La Puerta Verde in Ivy City and the restaurants, Ghibellena and Sotto, on 14th Street NW.

Atlas Brew Works

This local brewery with tastings, tours, and growlers recently won the People's Choice award for Best Local Brewery at our first EdibleDC Magazine Awards.

Dock FC

Calling all soccer fans! This is for you. Dock FC is a soccer-centric sports bar. Come for the game and stay for the food!

Big Chief

A New Orleans-themed bar where you can often find a band or DJ playing music. This large venue is a popular gathering spot for special occasions. The last time we went, we loved the BYOF (bring your own food) aspect.

La Puerta Verde

...or the "The Green Door" is Mexican restaurant in the heart of Ivy City developed by the Mindful Restaurant Group (Dock FC and Ari's Diner). We recently tried brunch here and had a great time before a distillery tour - we loved the cilantro mezcal margarita.

New Columbia Distillery

The first distillery in DC since prohibition, New Columbia produces GreenHat Gin and Capitoline Vermouth. Come for a tour, tasting or book a bottling party. You can read more about bottling party options in our Spring Distillery Guide.

Ivy City Smokehouse

Brought to you by the premium seafood supplier, Profish, this multi-floor concept has lots to offer. From a sidewalk fresh fish market for some of the freshest seafood in town and delicious house-smoked salmon to a sit-down tavern upstairs with outdoor space. If you haven't tried the smoked salmon, you are missing a real treat.

One Eight Distilling

A locally sourced grain-to-glass distillery serving up vodka, gin and whiskey offerings, with tours + tastings.

MOM's Organic Market

An amazing all organic grocery store founded by Rockville native Scott Nash, this retail grocer's purpose is to protect and restore the environment. The MOM's team reviews each product in the store for its quality and don't sell products with artificial colors, preservatives, or sweeteners, High fructose corn syrup or preservatives, hydrogenated oil, meat or dairy with antibiotics or growth hormones, bleached or bromated flour and bulk-dried fruit with added sulfites.
